Concentration planning
My first planning is of sex trafficking and how they treat young children as sex objects and how it's awful. I originally planned on just painting a portrait of a father and a daughter, or what it seems to be. She was going to secretly have a barcode tattoo and possibly some hickies but they just look like a normal father and daughter. I now discovered a few artists who have inspired me to take a risk and do some collaging. As of right now I am using mixed media and I have a 12x 18 canvas stretched.
Social Commentary
My original plan for Social commentary was to use the issues of the illegal immigrant and the deportation of them and how DACA took them but that was just pushed to the side because I encountered a a more personal and powerful reason due to the time today. I came up with the idea of a girl painted in blue, being raped by a male who will be painted in red to represent the political parties. I was inspired by the Kavanaugh hearing and real life event I witnessed
I started the paining on a large canvas and used acrylic paint. As I was painting I had to switch the large canvas to a smaller one. I came across a couple issues painting this. I keep messing the mouth up, and I keep making little mistakes on the females face.
Metamorphasis
My main idea was a blank. I was trying to rush into social commentary. I want to do something with ICE and illegal immagrants being deported but now I decided to change my plan to a small idea of what i have. I am going to take a picture and have it transfer into a black and white sketch. I am going to take an image and turn the transparancy down through photoshop and then kick in the values with graphite and ink. I might use a canvas or watercolor paper. Whichever one works with photo transfer. I am working on sketches on this at the moment.
Going through the process of making a photograph into an image was harder than you think. I took the photograph and had a strong glare on it so I had to edit it out. By using Photoshop, I got to do a lot of editing with the shades and such to make it lighter so I can take the sketched Image and make her pop more. As you can see the process, I matte medium-ed them down except the second, which I used image Transfer. It made a cool ghost and see through copy of her but that wasn't in my original planning so I had to solve that problem. I just let it and tried to do the affect on every other one. I didn't do it as harshly on the 4th one because I matte medium-ed the rest down. The final product includes a pattern of the repeating faces and they create a movement of the transformation. The usage of the values and the ink flowing though with the image help show and create the rhythm of the piece. This one was more difficult for me to come up with an idea on. I feel that I did a good idea last year and couldn't top it. I'm okay with the outcome but something is missing.
Scholastic 144: 9/4
Okay, to be honest I have been working on a person piece and it's something I started out of anger. I guess the theme toward this idea would be sexuality but I don't really want to label it that. The idea came to me when I was standing talking to my friend and this group of guys behind me gave me a label. Well the anger inside of me took over and I began putting it out into this diptic of a magazine cutout of two ken dolls cuddling. I planned this out so quick I have 0 reference image on the Ken dolls but I was inspired by Andy Warhol Mick Jagger pieces. The placement of primary colored shape and patterns surrounding the two dolls creating the pop-art vibe. The other one is in black and white and I am planning to do the same patterns in primary colors and I'm thinking triangles.
As I was working on this, the black and white one were alright so I started to do the primary colored ones with image transfer but that failed drastically because I am very impatient so I threw them away and spiced up the other. The reasoning I chose black & white and primary colors are that those are the colors you are given in life that can't be made. I am trying to prove a point by showing that homosexuals are made just the same way but we made our new colors. The primary colors make everything up the rainbow. Some people are so close minded and non educated, that they didn't even know that. I really just want this piece to stand out to someone who doesn't understand. I want them to feel so uncomfortable by the idea of two Ken dolls but also be taught a lesson because it pisses me off. I used watercolor and railroad board paper. I used acrylic, watercolor, and collage to create this
This is my final result. I feel like it could be better but I am risking a lot just making a piece on this topic. I believe the white and black balance the two out but they are placed in a black frame to be presented. They are both 4x6.
Identity:
This assignment was pretty difficult in my opinion. To make something that expresses my identity, and make it mono-chromatic? Wow thats a tough one. I didnt want to make this a litteral piece. I wanted it to be something you had to stare at to make you think about what is going to happen.
I came up with an idea of a little boy in bright green surrounded by dark black and green cut outs of adults and darkness coming in the brain representing corruption. It's more of a historical version of Cameron.
I came up with an idea of a little boy in bright green surrounded by dark black and green cut outs of adults and darkness coming in the brain representing corruption. It's more of a historical version of Cameron.
So I tried to do something I never have done before and did printmaking of a little boy I did. As you can see, I collaging adults that play as the corruptors and how they influence children to be just like they want them to be.
After i had just plain black and collage around the boy, Mrs. Maclay had put outlines of the boy around the picture and it threw me off so much I took two days off to just process. But it made me realize i can do the same in green on the other side and fade it up. I then had trouble dealing with the negative space so I then got inspired to add geometrical patterns with triangles.
